One more upload of one of these young Great Horned Owls that I have been uploading...this shot was taken a couple of weeks back. I have not seen these Owls for past week but have not been looking for them. Other people have seen them though. I understand they stay together with parents in this area till the Fall and then the young ones find their own territory and parents stay in this area. It has been an honor for me to witness this. I have seen the parents fly through bush and am amazed everytime I see this as they have a four foot wingspan. Used Nikon D50 with Tamron lens set at 240mm shutter 1/30 aperture f/11 ISO 400.

Wow!! or Whoo as the case may be. Perfect shot of this youngster and the expression on his face is priceless. However in the world you were able to sneak up behind him is beyond me. Nice balance of colors too!

He still has his baby feathers in this shot! I guess mom and dad weren't around when you took this one. Great shot, Gerry!

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

:) - gorgeous. I thought owls only came out at night lol -perhaps they made an exception when they heard there was a fine photograper about. Lovely work.
