I used Nauxilium's "A Beautiful Day" as the base image and used the ship, the moon, and the lighthouse from Stockxchange. The skull and crossbones are from my "Carolina Pirate post. This is the second attempt at this idea. I deleted the other one after posting it and started from scratch. I'm still on a pirate kick so please forgive. -Rob

Wow, Rob...truly impressive work. I love your concept & that luminous cobalt blue is both arresting & just plain gorgeous ! I highly recommend viewing this full screen, there's a lot here. Nothing to forgive, fantastic work & I wish you well in the contest.

This looks more along the line of "Pirates of the Carribean" after dark. Nice job. Can't decide which one I like better.

ding ding ding .. (* the cigar chomping, heavy breathing referee fumbles for your wrist .. grabs it .. and thrusts it skyward *) ... da winnah .. and new champeen

(*a rumbling can be heard but its source can not be discerned*) .. (*you realize it's the crowd*)

groo .. groo .. groo .. groo .. groo .. groo

your head swells to three times its normal size .. you fail to train properly for your next bouts .. and you fall to a young upstart

It seems the competition is tough. I wonder who is gonna win the contest. I think you really have the chance. It is so creative and different from the original. I guess this is what I would expect, some original concept and yours is brilliant.

I wish I hadn't looked at the original background and discovered that the ocean was really grass; it's distracting me how well you transformed the landscape just by darkening it up. I really love this creation, and I too am a big fan of pirate folklore, especially since I visit some of the Carolina coast islands every summer where I get to hear the stories. =)
