While there is perhaps a province in which the photograph can tell us nothing more than what we see with our own eyes, there is another in which it proves to us how little our eyes permit us to see. --Dorothea Lange
Nice view Gaz....the moss adds a good flavor to the image as does the fact that you captured the still water above the rushing water. Lovely capture. Thank you:))
Hi Gaz; Very-nice image. Until I downloaded it I wasn't sure if the gates were wood or what. We have lots of dams around here but they are just a little bit bigger. I like the texture in the old wood along with the bubbly cheerfulness of the fresh water as it rushes through. 10 x 10
Nice - I would imagine that this was a high-contrast subject so you've done well to keep the detail in the dark areas without burning out the light. The vivid green of the moss adds another element to what could almost have been a monochrome image, and there's good movement in the water. The angle of the bank and the canal in the bg is a bit distracting (to me), but it's hard to see how you could have cropped it without detracting from your image in other ways. Good work :-)
My family and I went on the English cannals on a cannal boat last fall. It was the most relaxing and beautiful trip that I have ever been on. I remember opening and closing the locks, it was a grand time! This picture brings back good memories!
I love this picture, I used to go on the canals every years and this brings back some happy memories. I took some lock pictures, but they are not on a parr with yours. Love it.
