The many back roads of the Pacific Northwest affords us with a smorgasbord of images. It's just hard to know where to begin sometimes.

I mean no offense in criticism but I am not immediately not drawn to this image. The colors to me seem rather mute. I will say one interesting thing it has to offer is the subject. This tree looks as if it has seen better days.

Yeah the image seems to be a little over-exposed, and also a bit flat in tones (which can be fixed partly by lowering brightness and a small increase in contrast). It's an interesting tree, and i agree that it must have seen better days.

Capturing a mood and moment as it fixes into your brain is not always full of technical thought nor should it be.
I believe too many of us fall into the trap of getting the "perfect light" or "correct angel" that we forget that photography is witness and nothing more. When the spectacular shots occur, Great!
Keep taking photos that inspire you and let the mechanics come into play when and if you feel they should.

I quite like the subject. Agree with the comments abouut increasing both saturation and contrast. Not ideal as a desktop in the protrait format.

"What other reason could there be to get up in the morning except to set ourselves free." If my comment on your work ever seems to criticise, it does not. It is always so that we may learn together.
