Wow, what a fantastic shot of your state bird. The focus, detail, & angle are all so perfect. The bird looks so proud sitting on the cactus & the blue sky makes a great background. I can see this image on a cover of an Arizona travel magazine or perhaps a collector's stamp to represent your state. You should be very proud of this one. Excellent work.
What a capture you have here Jen. I see why it is called cactus bird...it camouflages as a cactus! This angle is great and the sky behind your feathered friend is so blue and details him so nicely. The cactus itself stands out due to your superb shooting skills. Thank you once again Jen. :~)
A nice bird that I haven’t seen before, I bet he doesn’t sit often :-) You have impressive detail in this one, the composition is near perfect and the focus range is excellent. What more could you ask for?
Great shot Jen....you got the composure 'spot-on'!.....rather him than me sitting on that!....But, there again, according to Wor-Lass, I have a thick hide?........
Jen, you constantly astound me! How in the world did you get this without frightening this cutie off...absolutely amazing angle and clarity! 10 for this dear lady!
The emotions, the tears, of wasted years, wash over me like a cold wind out of the north. I tremble and shake, with each breath i take, and there's no one around me that cares. Dwight.
that's a unique perspective of the birds. How it adheres to that cactus amazes me. Those are thorns, baby. God must have given him special feet of some kind. Unless God gave him a special rear end as well, I'll bet you'll never shoot him nesting. Great capture. You generated a lot of commentary with this photo.

Nice composition and detail, Jen! My mom lives in Scottsdale, and I live in Massachusetts, so it's fun to see your photos from Arizona - it's like seeing what my mom sees. Of course, I love seeing your pics from other places too.
some magicians prefer that the audience not know their secrets .. tough .. how did you happen to be in position to capture this
oh wait .. in California they call the chubby birds that eat french fries all day "Parking Lot Birds" .. this cactus is in a McDonald's Parking lot? .. you had fries on your head?
i hope it's ok to thank you for your peeks at 2 things in this note. it's so much tidier than all those shells sitting in your mailbox. i thought antelope was by far the best, but then who knows. it is gorgeous with all its reds, etc. wire pass is awesome in a different way. what can i say about that bird???? would you sit on that thing?..................jen
we've just returned from a photo trip. i apologize for all the comments i didn't send regarding both your photos and your comments to my photos. it would take forever. so please forgive me.
