While visiting Rome my favorite visit was made to the Great Cistern which is located in an area known as Albana. It was built betweem the end of the Second and the beginning of the Third Century. The water was supplied from two aqueducts origiating from the springs located within the crater of the Albano Lake. It is still in operation today for the irrigation of public parks and for fire protection services. Fortunately it was empty and we were able to go down a long steep staircase. I just loved the way it looked.

Jen, the Roman who conceived and has made realize this cistern was way ahead of his time.
Very interesting. Your photograph gives an excellent impression of this phenomenon.
Very well done, 👍 !

Jen, all the colors (considering the lighting difficulties you had to deal with in getting the shot) are amazing.
