While out in the field last week, I came across this lovely variation of a dogwood tree - The Japanese Kousa dogwood tree is native to Korea, China, Japan, and Taiwan. It is widely cultivated as an ornamental. As you can see, the tree produces lovely star-like blooms in spring. In the fall, the foliage turns a brilliant reddish-purple, and the branches become laden with unique red fruits. The fruits are edible, but the birds find them more palatable than we do! Enjoy!!!!!!
