Laura - I'm guessing a stack of CDs or DVDs. Great work!

I'm guessing the side of a pottery planter - really good one for the contest.

I'm with Thad... a stack of disks... the curves lines and the two vertical lines near the center are the giveaway (the holes in the center). A great idea (if we're right) and image (even if we're not), one just right for my desktop, thanks.

It is made of metal. I would say a drum of some kind, big or small.

Had to wait some time to comment, Laura, in order to think somewhat longer what this could be.
The result is a headache and no solution now, ☺ ☺ ☺ .
Proves anyhow that your capture meets perfectly the current contest topic.

Good Luck with it my friend.

PS: Kathy could be right.

Welllll..

At first, I had convinced myself that this was a macro shot of the side of a glass vase for flowers. Given your shooting proclivities and as evidenced by your personal galleries chockful of gorgeous flowers.

It was only after closer examination that what I thought could be condensation drops, revealed the "drops" to be pitting or imperfections.

As in, those from a stack of DVDs, or CDs.

And that.. is the story I am sticking with.

... ...

p.s. Good good one for the contest.

My first inclination was an outside drainage pipe, Laura. I guess I will stick with that. Well done.

Hmm ...

Well, I was all ready to jump on the "it's a stack of cd discs" bandwagon, until purmusic pointed out that he believes it to be pitting instead of moisture. So unless you chew on your discs the way that some people chew on pens ... now I'm not sure?

Maybe a spool of wire?

I really don't know but it looks like a close up of the side of one of those 'slinky' spring toys. Although I also think it may be something in the innards of a car engine about which I know noting, It seems to have oil on it.
It a great entry whatever it is :)
