Fairy Glen, near Betwys-y-coed, N.Wales. This is a small gorge hidden away from civilsation, though it gets a fair few visitors. Needing a day away from University, after a funeral back home, which is nearby, I decided to stay a night in the youth hostel, get up early and do what I love: take photos. I spent the whole morning, from 6am to noon, wandering down the river that falls from the hills. This spot is out the other side of the pretty town, only half an hour by foot. Unfortunately, after taking this photo, I leant a little too far out over the rocks and took a fall...and got pretty wet! Thankfully I managed to hold the camera and tripod up, so they didn't suffer... 30 seconds at f/22 ISO 100.

This is SO beautiful!!!! So funny that you fell in the water - glad you didn't get hurt and the camera stayed dry. It's fun to hear the extra stories that go with pictures - it helps visualize what you had to go through to get this gorgeous picture. Congrats! It's in my favs!

This is very unique! I don't think I've ever seen a time exposure done w/ water before. Excellent idea, and it turned out to be very vibrant & full of action. 10/10. I'm definitely impressed with this one.

Gorgeous capture. Brilliant composition. The smoke-like whisps in the water from your time exposure are fascinating to view. Thanks for this "Favorite"

Another amazing shot. I love long exposures, but unfortunately, my camera can only go up to 15sec. Glad you kept the camera dry...a guy's gotta have his priorities right?

Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb. - Churchill

This is a stunning picture James, and you have captured the magic of this place to perfection. I have been to Betwys-y-Coed but not to this beautiful spot. I hope we see some more of the area.

Gorgeous...just gorgeous!!! I like the colors here, great crispness of the mossy rocks, blending well with the "blur" of the water. Good to hear that while you didn't manage to save yourself, you saved the equipment...and I guess to the photog artists...THAT's all that really matters! =D

To take my fave phrase of the moment...

Save the Camera, Save the World.

This is what I have suspected: a camera in one hand (tripod in the other) and the rest - under water, he, he, he. Anyway the result was worth it! Excellent capture. It is hard to believe the place is hidden away from civilisation... Right to my favourites!

~found in voting booth and had to comment~

Wowzer!! At first I kinda thought it had a little too long of a time delay, yet after staring at it several moments I think it works. The added length which pronounces those lines make for a sense of fantasy and dreamlike world. Superior color control and overall comp!!

OoooooOOO, i like that interesting story, which is very familiar to mine today, uh, just that mine actually hit the snow (at least it wasnt water). :) Favs, nice image, etc etc.

I have a question, this image here says 30 secs @ f22....Today i was taking pics and the slowest i could get my camera to go was like 1/6th of a second @ f22, 18-35mm lens...the lighting here in this image looks similar also. If you could let me know why this might be, or how you slowed it down even more, that would be nice. :) thanks.

James this is my kind of image. You have captured near perfection with this. This should go up on your wall as it is definitely a keeper.
This one goes straight into my favorites and on my desktop.

Absolutely unique. 30 seconds of your life very well spent! I find time-lapse shots bizarre. A photograph captures a moment. What determines a moment?

Stunning.
I just looked at the numbers up there to see that over two thousand people have viewed this image and over five hundred of them DIDN'T download it. I was stunned again. How on earth do you see this and not want it? Not only do I want it. I want to go there and I wish I could take photos like this. Jeez. Ethereally good photography, luminous artistry, gobsmackinggood work mate.
Wow.

Hi James, wonderful picture and a bit mythical, in fact isn't there a face luring in the orange rock, almost like a creature of the forest frozen while waiting for you to leave? The more I look at this picture the more it reminds me of those pictures where you find hidden expressions or images within the image- very cool!
