the over saturated colours and how they arent just a wash of colour but retain detail and are broken through by the black branches and twigs theres a very effective use of soft focus which gives the forest and the rest of the photo a handpainted quality
sometimes photos should look like an unobstructive window on an unedited scene WYSIWWT (what you see is what was there) but sometimes they should look and feel like they were crafted, whether or not this was a crafted image (in photoshop) i dont mind it feels like you had a hand in it and it looks good
the carpet of fallen leaves is especially well done in that it has the specks of pure yellow peppering it all over ... it so easily could have lost all that subtle detail in over saturation
subtle use of approximate 1/3rds both in the vertical and horizontal since the yellow'er tree on the right with its highlight falls just in the sweet spot vertically and of course the deep shadow of the canopy in the horizontal
Well, your first comment covered a lot of ground so I'll just add that the darkness of the tree trunks and in the background under the trees, adds a nice touch of contrast to these brilliant but beautiful leaves...great work, Joseph.:Pat.
Hi Joseph
What a wonderful autumn feeling this shot gives, even when its manipulated sort of.
it shows what I personaly like to see in this season.
the rich colors which get deep of the lower light.
I like the overall effect of what you were trying to accomplish here. It worked so well. Im not so sure if my eyes can take it for long..haha...the fuzziness makes me a bit crazy, but then again, Im recuperating from an illness so it might be that I'm not well enough to know what I see or dont...but I do love the colours and he softness in this photo..its very nice.
"One evening I saw a red sunset, its rays falling on trunks and foliage of pines growing among a tumble of rocks, colouring ...with orange fire.It was superb"VincentVanGogh
I like the balance of color you have in the trees Joe. The yellow, the green, the brownish and the fiery one. If they were all one color, this iamge would not be as effective. The color of the carpet of leaves works so well due to the trees above them. I know this area well. Good work ! :~)

the colours are phenominal!
