I played around with a photo I shot of some big pipeline in an industrial area nearby. This is what I came up with. :) I got one more version that I will upload but I think this one is maybe visually cleaner and perhaps better as a desktop image.

Nice work here Klas! This makes me think of that old "game" spirograph. Remember spirograph? I used to love that when I was a kid.

Hehe, thank you. No I never heard of that one. I didn't have a computer as a kid. I make up for that now I guess. ^_^ Or maybe it was an ordinary game?

Haha, yes does remind me of spirograph. It was an ordinary drawing game! Great work Klas!

Sensational, Klas. This is so delicate and beautiful. Wonderful colors and sense of depth. I'm looking forward to more in this series.

Thank you all for the great comments. I totally missed spirograph... How did you do it? Tracy, I'm afraid the other ones in the series is not so delicate in color... That's why I posted this "original" file. It's in some ways better than the others. ^_^ I can't help playing around though. :)

Thanks for the link Darryl. I understand more of how spirograph images are made manually now. I'm afraid I can't use the program since it's Windows only. ;-) It did however motivate me to find a Mac compatible version of a simillar app. :) I'm trying it out now... Lets see if I can use it for some desktop fun. :)

You're definitely blurring the boundaries between the Photography and Computer galleries, Klas - if you hadn't said you'd started with a photo I would've guessed this was pure CG. There's a great sense of depth in the patterns, particularly the orange areas. Very nice. And one of the first programs I wrote for my first computer (Sinclair ZX81 anyone?) simulated a spirograph.....

Thank you Simon. That was really nice to hear. The starting image is graphically really simple but the light is great in it. I didn't use any filtering really, only layering the image upon itself to create this effect. It's a time consuming technique to follow through, but I think it's fun to see the result. ^_^ (That computer is definately something I never heard of by the way...)
