Oh how interesting! And it is easy to visualize oneself there 2000 years ago, because it is smaller than the Coleseum and feels more likely, somehow. It looks like excavation is still going on. I can imagine the overspill crowd (then and now) sitting on the ground right where you were standing. Compositionally this works pretty well, with the curving lines to the center, the "framing" of the round amphitheater by the houses. I bet houses were built there since the amphitheater was in existance... or, more likely, they may have been stores or produce stands selling food, hats, etc. Nice pic!
