Mind-blowing macro! The bead of water being sucked by the bisheebarneebee (our local name here in East Anglia for the ladybird) is a truly outstanding capture. Congratulations on a superb shot!
Truly amazing and a very beautiful shot. I love ladybugs. When my little girl was born, I nicknamed her "Ladybug" coz I never thought I'd have my very own little girl!
Hey there Mister Madman, wat'cha know that I don't know
Tell me some crazy stories, let me know who runs this show
Glassy-eyed and laughing, he turns and walks away
Tell me what made you that way
What a show stopper! I can't believe you haven't posted this long before now. A lady bug having a drink! What a wonderful post and of course, your macro work is super!
You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being.

Sip by sip and this is how the dew drops vanish in the morning...Great DOF Kristof. Come on tell me friend, you do have some image stabilization, don't ya?
Dear Kristof,
This is going to be one of my most favourite new desktops ...
Many thanks and otherwise I am asking the same info as Ewa before me PLEASE !!!
I'd say you were clever to save it for these bleak, cheerless wintry days. I get such a charge out of this one..everyone in the house is in awe of this post and agree that Caedes is the one of the best educational place around..you always see things you can't see anyplace else. Thanks so much for this rare image
Dang, you're good with that camera, Kristoff! How long did it take you to frame this shot? Watching that little guy quenching his thirst on that water drop actually makes me thirsty. Wonderful shot! Wen
ll for the comments ,
i have no stabilization ( canon doesn't offer that on the macro range ) but the shutter time was high enough to avoid motion blur .
Hello Kristof::it gives me shivers of pleasure to see such a most lovely photo. Oh how I wish I could take a macro such as this. It is truly a magnificient work of art! Such beauty in those dewdrops and then to be able to show that ladybug..wow. It is the perfect comparison of size..to make us realize just how tiny she is. Thank you for a most awe inspiring photo. It will be a special photo to treasure for a long time...Verena
Dude... wow. I'm sorry, I have to comment, even though you'll probably never read this. That is amazing, those little spheres of water... Shimmering, like... well, like temselves. There's nothing quite like dew. The ladybug's a bit blurry on the far side, but I assume that there's nothing to be done about that. Besides, it gives focus where you want it. Oh, and can i request macros of snowflakes, frost on windows, and much much dew? Please? I know you can do that!!!
I don't think I've ever seen a shot like this in my lifetime. It would be a fantastic accomplishment on a tri-pod ... but handheld puts it off the scale. The shell has some blur but that is as it should be because the perfect focus is exactly where it should be ... on that head slurping up the waterlet. You've done with the camera lens what a skilled surgeon does with the scalpel ... absolute precision. Into my favorites it goes Kristoff along with my admiration of your talent.
Wow .. You actually caught a picture of a ladybug lifting up a drop of water to see if there is anything underneath it ... I'd heard that they do that but I've never seen it
hahaha ... absolutely fantastic shot
... go ahead and quit your day job .. you can make a living at photography
