I know this breaks the rule of 3rds but I couldn't resist sharing this earless rabbit with you. I don't know what happened to him or if he was born that way. It was just so unusual to see. Yes, this is a real untouched photo...no manipulation. LOL!

This might be congenital (born that way ...) or the result of a close call with something that saw this little guy/gal as a meal. Since both ears seem to be missing, I would guess its likely the former. He doesn't appear the worse for it but it must be a bit of a disadvantage. Good shot! - Dave

Poor baby but I agree with everyone else- doesn't seem to hinder it in any way whatsoever. Very nice shot of it too.

sometimes a mother rabbit will actually chew off the ears in error when they are babies.. i know it sounds icky, but it happens...

I would have shot this as quickly as possible myself. To heck with rules. It's the capture you want. Poor bunny. Must be a birth defect or maybe something grabbed him by the ears and he had to leave them behind. I read an article recently on a horse that had no ears and it was really in trouble with the other members of the heard because horses communicate by the positioning of their ears. I wonder about the rabbit. Nicely focused shot. Good capture.

Now Linda, this is interesting! What a cute lil guy. I think he's adapted to his disability. Probably born that way.Hope the other bunnys don't make fun of him :( Very good clear capture. He stands out hoppingly in the bright green grass. Thanks for this interesting piece of natures work :*>
