I cannot begin to imagine where you must have been standing in order to take this photo! Pretty frightening to be so surrounded by snow and mountains this close. A great photo tho. Verena
This photo is of great interest both for its artistic merit and for the harsh scene being depicted. From the dense cloud cover, it appears that the sun appears briefly, though filtered by thinner clouds, and you caught one of those moments. With that the shadows add to the drama of the ice, snow and rock. Very well done! Thad

WOW...this is great, there is so much to see in here, the blue tones, the lighting, depth and composition, really beautiful.
Don't know where you were standing while taken this shot, but it was worth it.
The reason why the sunsets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB
Congratulations on winning the dof contest...Well deserved! Great shot - just makes me cold and nervous. Helllllp, I'm falling... All kidding aside, I love the way you captured the natural tones of the snow and ice and lost no detail. Snow is so difficult to get detail because of the specular highlights. The angle gives a great leading quality that takes you right from the foreground to the cloud-covered distant peak. Just a fabulous capture. anne :-)
Tell me if you like it or don't but be sure to tell me why! I promise to always give honest and sincere (albeit gentle when necessary) critiques. MY NEW YEARS TIP for all, go have some fun with your new gear you got for Christmas. Do some things you rarely or never do. If you always shoot scenics, go shoot macros (or as close up as you can get.) Practice on different subjects, try new lighting techniques, bracket your shots (shoot the same image at different exposures and different apertures), get down low and shoot from your back, your belly, and your knees. Bend, twist, lean and climb up on things. Shoot toward the sky (carefully - blown out sunlight is NOT attractive :-) Just do something different and amaze yourself then share with us :-) Love you Caedians.
