New Paltz, New York, USA. A partially completed rug being created on the large loom in the attic of the Abraham Hasbrouck House, built in about 1721. One small window provided the light by which the weaver could perform his or her work. Enjoy!

I used to make rugs like this when I was a kid, on a 1x4 frame and short nails holding the binding threads. Nice image here... I like all the various lines and the negative space created by the shadows.

Good to see you've been keeping yourself busy and taking up a new hobby at the old homestead. You have all winter to weave Welcome into the design. An interesting find and nice capture Thad.

Great shot of a piece of history Thad.
Weaving is very hard work and must have been doubly difficult with such poor light conditions.

I have a friend who owns a loom - I love the click-clack noise as it is worked.
