Point Loma, California, USA. Annually, from January to March, gray whales travel past Point Loma in their migratory travel pattern, and can be seen from this platform. This sculpture and the vertebrae commemorate the whales' migration - Carl Glowienke created it in 1992.

Never knew they were so aerodynamic or breached so far out of the water. Maybe Capt. Kirk and Spock were trying to beam them aboard. :) A good capture of the sculpture, Thad. A nice DoF in the photo, and details in the image.
