Akron, Ohio, USA. The Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens was an estate built in 1912-1915 by F.A. Sieberling, co-founder of Goodyear Rubber Company. The estate name, Stan Hywet, is Old English for 'stone quarry', as the stone for the house and outbuildings was cut from a quarry on the grounds. Originally 3000 acres, the estate is now a mere 70 acres. On the expansive grounds are many gardens, not only beautiful, but during the 'lived in' era of the estate, they were functional. This pathway, lined with young trees and varieties of low plants, cuts through layouts of other gardens. Here are my son and his girlfriend enjoying the walk.
