He does look quite benign despite have not such a pleasant reputation. It is a very fine portrait with great detail - not one I would like on my wall though :)

I love that you can see the vanes of the feathers and their deep, mottled, antiqued metal coloration. I love that you can see his ear, every wrinkle, the opaque translucence of his beak, and the Florida skies reflected in his eyes.
I have seen these guys hang around the big gators down that way. They know the big boys are messy eaters know there will be plenty of scraps laying around.
