Sedona, Arizona, USA. Riding in a jeep to the Palatki Ruins in late afternoon, we drove through abandoned cattle farms. With the arid conditions, the fences remain standing many years after the last cattle grazed. The red rocks of Sedona are amazingly beautiful.

Excellent capture with very good details, Thad.
I agree with you that the red rocks are amazingly beautiful, but to me they are impressive as well.

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

I am sure the beauty of the land was not lost on the original settlers and ranchers, but their economic lifeline, affected in the extreme by the annual rainfall, probably tempered that beauty somewhat. The buttes remind me of the western badlands in my state but the red soil brings up memories of driving through Wyoming years ago. Looks like a gorgeous place to live... as long as you do not have to live off the land.
