went {today/Nov18} on a photo-hike, and didn't find TOO much out on trails so took my 2 little brats to let them play on the playground, and as I watched them, I noticed a pic'nicing couple with a teeny baby in an infant carrier which was sitting on the picnic table. Just overhead...was this hawk....watching the baby intently.....as if sizing up whether it could lift this wiggling cherub or not. hahaha : seriously! Don't worry...Mom's are way deadlier than hawks...so the baby was never in any danger. Still...it's a true story...:)

Great capture Terri ... This should score high. I'm envious as always of your "Hawk" shots. I just never seem able to spot one at rest, they are always soaring above teasing me on high. Drat !! :)

....unless they are momma hawks and you're eyeing one of their babies! lol It is indeed a beautiful capture, Terri. Nice and clear and well framed by the surrounding tree limbs.

This is a great capture of this hawk Terri! They can be nasty buggers but I've never heard of one of them attacking a baby.

I SERIOUSLY doubt any hawk would swoop a baby....and maybe I should not have told the story. He was certainly fascinated with the baby.....and intently watching...but maybe he was hoping the people would leave some KFC on the table?:)

That hawk probably was doing exaclty as you excribed -- firguring out that the baby was too heavy. That won't always stop a hawk, if he calculates that he can still kill the thing and eat it without taking it away.

NO, mothers are not nearly as fast as a hawk -- as I discovered once when I ran out my door to rescue three baby ducks in a pen. The hawk was circling high overhead and I only had 20 feet to run, but I didn't get there in time.

Beautiful shot.

Hello Terri...Fantastic picture...Some of the most impressive animals on earth are birds of prey. Their piercing eyes, sharp beaks, and strong talons are part of an image of noble power here in the Uk....You should be really proud of this picture...Excellent work Terri....All the best...Mick
