behind the scenes....

yes....I KNOW this is NOT artistically great. The bird is over-exposed....but I mentioned in my last egret shot that a gator was just underneath the bird...and thought I'd show this shot to give you an idea of "behind the scenes" with me. The alligator was approx a 9 footer. I focused first on the bird and took some shots...and then walked closer { slowly} and DO have a better shot of my gator before it chickened out and scooted into the lake....{ knowing I have PMS}...:)

By the way.....the egret actually appeared to "point out" the gator to me....{ really}....! When I approached....the bird did a gutteral "grok" kinda sound...and turned toward and looked under/back toward the gator...and it really appeared to me...as if it was alerting me.

*ON SECOND THOUGHT*
that dang bird was probably telling that gator: "here comes MadMaven...."eat her!"

I would be doing a 'gork' sound too if I was that close :)
I think this is an amazing picture you have captured. The egret AND the . . . .other thing . . . and the foliage is really superb.
Splendid work Terri :)

Glad you didn't step on him Terri ;) I think it's interesting how the bird is directly above the gator and you've captured them together very well. Thanks for this one.

Good photo with great interplay here Terri. Those Egrets must be quite large. That bird doesn't look all that much smaller than the 9ft gator.

Well...it's not artistically great...oh, wait...you said that, not me.

I luv the over feel on the take T!! It is a wee bright or washed out, but, still having the gator and the birdy in the same frame really adds a kick-arse kinda value to the capture!!

"Groks" back at'cha!!

I'm glad I don't have those sorts of hazards to contend with when I'm out snapping [unlike the gator - ha ha groan;o)]. Thanks for the background history. Never having visited the glades [or the US] it's great to get the 'bigger picture'
Cheers,
Steve.
