is ahead for this small alpine stream as it winds it's way to the Mississippi River and eventually The Gulf of Mexico. The stream is along the way up to Independence Pass, Colorado. I wonder how long it takes the water to reach the Gulf? Thanks for looking!

This area is uninhabited it seems (by humans, of course) and that makes it wonderfully beautiful besides the fact that it is wonderfully beautiful. I wonder what the altitude is at this point because there are lots of pines and of course, the water is flowing downhill. It must take days for the water to journey to the sea. It sure is something to contemplate while viewing this pristine scene.

I love long journeys. Even if I have to follow a stream. LOL Fantastic shot and view, Diane.

Awesome scenery Diane. A perfect spot for my little homestead.
Just imagine waking up to this every day, then kicking back on the porch during sunset. Sigh.....

Beautiful shot! Very clear, and I like 'layers' of interest (stream, trees, mountains).

What a beautiful view up the valley Diane. I have had a Coors with some of that water so it all doesn't make it to the Gulf. I took a big Gulp though, :)

Diane - Put a message, with date and time, in a bottle and send it down river. Then, head to New Orleans to spot it coming by. In the meanwhile, have a few hurricane drinks on Bourbon Street while waiting. Sure fire, pseudo-scientific discovery at its best! This photo, taken at the upper reaches of the tree line, has tremendous depth, with the mountain peaks in the distance and the stream foreground. I like the composition with the stream exiting the lower left corner, and the balance of the rise on the lower right. Thad

By reading your question, THIS SONG came in my mind. Your question belongs to the same category, so don't blame me that I can't give you the answer, Diane, lol. The only thing I can say now, is that you have provived us again with a very fine image. Thanks for that.

Regards, Cornelius.

Not only to Gulf of Mexico Diane. We all would be freezing like in Chicago if there was not Gulf Stream that brings warmth to the northern Europe. Very nice shot of this interesting panorama.

Another beautiful shot of the scenery along Independence Pass. You did a great job composing this shot. I love the bit of the stream, and the pine trees on the slopes on each side. Excellent post, Diane.
