Thank you Al, Tony and Tommy. It was a very slow part of the river with very dence maple trees growing out over top and this created the shadowing with highlights caused from openings in the canopy. I moved around to get rid of most of the reflections and took multiple shots varying the bracketing and focus zones. This was the whole image except a slight crop from the bottom.
Extremely cool image! I like the three water bugs (I forget what they're called, something obvious probably) in the upper right. The light quality is especially good - it almost looks like the water itself is glowing - which gives it an almost spiritual feel. I really like this one.
Still water over stones, has a meditative feel to it. Where the striders touch the water they leave wonderful floral shadows. in my favorites, on my desktop. again.
Wow.....I love all the textures that I can see on the rocks. Gives the whole image a really cool effect. The water is very calm & the shadows are gentle enought to make me feel like I am there!!! Don't like those water striders those..YUCKY!!!! You get a 10 for 2 reasons..one is the quality of this image & the other is for going underwater to obtain it!! Brave man you are.....better than me!!. In my fav's on my HD & thank you :))
I don't think I can improve on Mimi's reasons for loving this. I do have to say that the normally bothersome water striders give this image a fun touch of light.
I really like this image Daryll. The Water Skeeters' shadow is what makes it for me. It gives the image a great deal of depth, especially as the water is so clear it's hard to tell how deep it is and if there really is water there. 10 x 10
Nice shot for the spost light and above all for the 3 little animals walking on the water with theirs shadow on the stones and the vivid light on the feet.09/10
I find it simply amazing that you were able to capture those tiny little water striders in this photo! Even their shadows on the river bed are visible. Stunning! I am very impressed. This is definitely a shot for my favorites.
Superb! The clarity is amazing for an underwater shot - only a few little areas of ripple shadows give it away. And the pond skaters - their shadows are astonishing too, with their bright haloes. Another great picture :-)
Darryl you never cease to amaze me with your images... This is absolutely wonderful! Thank you for sharing it with us. 10/10 and favorites... I think I almost got all your images in my favorites :-P
There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is a society, where none intrudes,
By the deep Sea, and music in its roar,
I love not man less, but Nature more

It really is great to come back and see what you may have missed the first time going through an artist's galleries.
This, for one.
Simplistic, but not.
And by no means, do I infer by the following comment, that this effort is less than your usual stellar photos ... but, this is a great wallpaper for a desktop. Very colour rich, incredible detail ... some nice shadows.
And those wonderful water striders are like a bonus. I was lost just taking in the image ... and then, they appeared. Perfect, too, I might add. Would love to see a blowup of this focusing on them. Almost balletic in their poses.
Amazing colour tones and sharp definition, the reflections add atmosphere.
Just super all round. As per usual.
Jubbly :o)
