The tour of our my botanical gardens continues :) There is no PS lighting done here nor any manip. I am not sure about the softer focus, so let me know what you think. I cloned out the stem of the flower as well as cloning out my dead pixels for Darryl ..lol I have been working on my exposures, so all critiques are welcomed Thanks ;=)

It's wonderful, Mimi. I see what you're saying about the softer focus, but with all that dark background, I think that it called for a place to rest the eyes. It would be nice to be able to do a side-by-side comparison of sharp and soft, but there's no need for change in this one.

I'll be honest,I'm not sure about the soft focus either, but somehow,it all works. The contrast and lighting are superb.

Striking contrast brought me here. Truthfully I wouldn't have noticed the softer focus had you not mentioned it. Looks fine to me and that beautiful blossom against the jet black background is a vivid eye catcher.

Critique? Ahhh, mmmm, let's see...uhhhmmm....YES if found something: only one flower!
...what? A fool....me?
But you wanted critique! And you leave us nothing to critizise on! Maybe you should make a little error on purpose next time, so we have something to complain about!
So, in short: perfect composition and colors!

Hello Mimi...Flowers are a fantastic subject, not just because of their beauty, but also because of their availability.....This picture is outstanding...Detail,colour and using a dark background makes this picture a pleasure to view... I think it is important to know the control of depth of fields in your camera when taking flower shots...Well done Mimi...All the best...Mick.
