A different kind of entry for the current contest...Street Photography. It's a stretch but worth a try. I've tossed a grid on this at least 50 times and I'm reading it as straight. Perhaps I had a little too much vino this evening. Thanks for looking and leaving a comment.

Far too much of imbibing that night, dearest Doug! :)
The image is straight as anything!
Most patriotic entry and so interesting.

I think it offers something a bit different for the contest, and is very apt for entry. A good patriotic post my friend. =^..^=tigs

Your picture reminder me of "Li'l Abner" and the song "What’s good for General Bullmoose." This musical is about 60 years old now but still relevant. If you remember the play, General Bullmoose is singing,

"What’s good for General Bullmoose is what’s good for the U.S.A.
And by Dow Jones and all their little averages,
Don’t you forget it! Right, boys?"

And thus Doug, the metaphor I see with your picture. What is good for Dow Jones is what's good for the U.S.A (or so they think). Thanks for pushing my memory and best wishes in the contest.

I think it is a good entry as it is taken on a street Doug. I would have had another glass of wine tonight as Germany beat Brazil 7-1 (!) in the World cup soccer semifinals just an hour ago.

I too think it's a great entry Doug - I think the straight issue is a result of the angle and perspective not the wine!

Kathy's probably right. You weren't centred, and I'm guessing you cropped the image before trying to straighten it. Shooting from dead centre, and further back would have minimized distortion.
You'd need a Perspective Grid that allows drawing the grid border lines out beyond it's normal configuration. You couldn't do that with such a tightly cropped image.
Regardless, it's a good shot and most would never have noticed it if you hadn't mentioned it :-).

It could be the vertical perspective as the camera lens creates an optical illusion!..

It looks a great choice for a 'street' posting too!

I hope you've enjoyed your (Italian?) vino Doug.
Interesting comment of Kathy, the other Doug, and Bob. To me it's an optical illusion as well. If you're using PS there are possibilities to adjust the (vertical) perspective.

Anyhow a good entry. Good Luck my friend.

Regards, Cornelius.
