While St. Marks Square in Venice is beautiful, I find the back alleyways and neighborhoods rich with photo ops. They are less crowded and often so wonderfully peaceful. As always, thank you for looking and leaving a comment.
Your colors and textures are so wonderful in this image, Doug. I love the purple flowers and the boat in the canal in addition to these brick buildings.
I have been in Venice 4 orn5 times and your photo brings back my memories. Lovely capture of this quiet back alley and canal with all the color tones and textures Doug.
A very striking scene Doug - so many colors, textures, designs and of course, the flowers - composition wonderful - takes me directly into the image - Excellent!!!!!!!!!
Like Raj, I've visited Venice many times as well during my active career. In that time any 'port call' was too short for an extensive photo shoot. A limiting factor too was that my camera had to be equipped with slide film. The sparse slides I have are all almost faded. Therefore I appreciate your wonderful submission, Doug. You've revived in an excellent way my fond memories of Venice. Thanks for that my friend!

Your editing really makes the image even more lovely, I would like to have the place on the left, because of the walkway. Lovely imagery, and I have never been out of the states. tigs=^..^=
I really like the subject here Doug - the colours, the textures and the reflections are wonderful but I'm not a fan of whatever editing processed you used.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
In the Robin Williams movie, "Moscow on the Hudson," Williams' character is standing in the cereal isle at an American grocery store and is so overcome with the choices that he faints in a heap. That must be what it's like for a photographer in places like Venice and Bali. You lucky dog, you... and you're doing those places justice.

Makes me wish there were back alleys in town, but then I'd have to deal with alley cats. A great capture of the canal scene, Doug. Wonderful textures and nice lighting in the photo.
