This is my favorite piazza (not pizza) in Italy and the largest sea-facing square in the country. The 700+ year old square has undergone several changes through the years and the current architecture reflects that of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. I was married under the bell tower, several years ago (when I was handsome). I've seen several concerts here but my all time favorite was when KC and the Sunshine Band played. Yes...I shook my booty. This is my entry for the current night contest. As always, thanks for looking and leaving a comment.

Spectacular night shot of the Piazza Doug as well as all the great memories you have shared with us - would make an excellent entry for the current contest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! p.s. even though it's Piazza, I'm now in the mood for a slice of Pizza!!!

It reminds me a bit of Vatican Square Gibbs.
I think I read about a Brown Eyed Handsome Man getting married under that bell tower.
Great shot and the voting gets tougher for the contest.

I really like the expanse of the courtyard, and the lighting, Doug, a good one for the contest, it's going to be a tough contest I think. That band was on top of their game back in the day, with some cool upbeat disco music. Shake, shake shake your booty! :)

It's quite an elegant wedding venue. Outstanding night shot with great depth of field, and they must have a very high electric bill!

What strikes me here is the absence of color in the facades, or perhaps it's simply monotone (I'd have to see the same scene in daylight to be sure), and the other is trying to think of what the purpose in those sub-piazza (hah!... spelled it right) lights might be. Are they there to provide a guide to tipsy wine lovers as they meander through the area at night? Is this Italy's largest human chess board, with the game played only after sundown (vampires? Hmmmm...)? Airport landing lights for city bats, organized by the "Tutela Pipistrelli?" Whatever the case, it's an interesting shot, perfect for the contest, and the next time there's a light fog rolling through the piazza you have to get out there. Imagine what thin columns of synchronized light, shining up through a haze would look like on "film?" Amazing, I'm betting.

The lighting looks fantastic Doug. The bright lights give it an almost monochrome effect. Excellent entry for the contest.
