I just got done reading a book about Vatican city, so this picture to me is awesome. I want to go there so bad. Its so beautiful. Youre lucky to have been able to go there! Nice shot. I like the angle you took it from as well.

It's a beautiful shot when you first see it, but when downloaded to desktop - breathtaking! I can hear the city and feel the sunlight when I look at this shot.

In this picture you can clearly see that the grand view is the image of a sword. The arches symboize the portion above the handle and the street narrowing to the tip of the sword is the blade.

Breathtaking to be sure - only thing that irks me is that it's a little crooked. Easily fixed with Photoshop or another program. Otherwise it's quite stunning.

In response to Beam, I read that from an arial view, the square and the road leading from it resemble a key, one of those old fashioned ones.

A most beautiful view - well done. From this viewpoint the true beauty of he Colonades is seen. I was there recently but did not have time to go to the top so I am delighed to see this.
Did you have to queue long? Arriving there at 7.30 am I soon saw the reason for an early start - people seemed to appear from nowhere :)
