Asked to Comment: This could be a very lovely image but I think from what I see here you tried to shoot this looking towards the sun. I have found these do not ususally turn out because of glare and washed out skies.
May I suggest to go back there when the sun would be behind you and try again. A filter might have helped also.
It has a kind of pixel look in it a places in the image.

I agree with the above, but a quick hint - if you have a camera which allows you to depress the shutter halfway to lock the focus try pointing the camera up so it is just above and to the side of the sun. This should help avoid the over-exposure at the top of the picture while still preserving the detail of the canal. A+ for effort and composition.
