Once and a while it all comes together for an amateur like me. After a day of shooting, you review the images on the computer and a shot comes on screen that makes all the deletions, the missed opportunities, the poorly composed clunkers ... worth while. For me this was one of those all too rare captures. I grinned with satisfaction when I first saw it.

I felt like that Junco deserved a reward for posing so nicely ... perhaps an 8 x 10 glossy I thought? ... Then I quickly came to my senses, realizing that was an utterly rediculous thought. What would a bird do with an 8 x 10 glossy ?

So ... Next morning I tacked an autographed wallet size to the tree for the bird. I mean ... How big could his nest be ?

Now that I've patted myself on the back so shamelessly ... feel free to let me have it with both barrels. :)

How did you get that bird to pose on one leg? Or was it wounded in combat somewhere? This is one gorgeous shot. I put it in my favorites. It is crystal clear, as are all your shots. Pat yourself on the back all you want...you deserve it.

Burnt. I knew you were burnt. A wallet size for the birdie?
Somebody call an ambulance. Please Muggsy, lay down with a fuzzy blanket and warm bowl of milk. I print out an 13x19 for the birdie.

Absolutely splendid! It doesn't get any better. I think you should reward him with some expensive, prime bird seed, some suet and a new bird bath! I think Birds and Blooms, the magazine would like to hear from you, John.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

There is no doubt that he was posing for you - the stress on the right leg, the neck stretched a little upwards all show that he was camera- conscious. Great photo John. Birdie will be pleased to show it to the offsprings!
