I light the foreground petals slightly blurred...As for the tiny blur i was talking about on your other image, Its gone. The red flower on a green bground works gr8.
The lighting is great - the lily is well lit but has interesting shadow detail as well. Very sharp and perfect framing of the subject. There's a sense of movement in the out of focus background that makes it feel like the bloom is popping out of the image. You've done it again. You are a busy little man. Thanks for keeping up with this flower junkie. I'm afraid I might totally go into withdrawal without them. You see, my garden has none. :-( How pathetic that I have to go elsewhere to shoot them. Truth is, I love to look, hate to work! No trowel callouses on my photo fingers. Sorry, I digress. Love the Latin touch. Thanks for sharing, anne :-)
Hi Nigel,
This is a very nice shot of a daylily (hemerocallis). It is not a "Tiger Lily" (lilium) but an entirely different species. You are not the only one to use this incorrect name for this beautiful flower, and your photograph is outstanding. I hope you will not take my comment amiss. I am only trying to help.
