The skies have been too grey to inspire me this weekend so I've revisited an old folder for this one. It's Happisburgh beach in Norfolk, taken at the end of last year. The coast there is crumbling away and these are the old steps down from the clifftops which have fallen away and now lie rusting on the beach. PS go ahead and do your worst Patti, I spotted it too late ;-)

Well, you did a good job of turning some old rusty steps in to a work of art. Looks to me they are surrounded by beauty. The texture of the golden sand stands out pretty well, and the sky is gorgeous. I bet that property up on the cliff is very pricey. I'll send you some of my old photos and let you rework them. LOL. Have a good week, Nigel.

I don't mean to be flip, Nigel, but I have to say that as I was viewing this the thought "recyclable" popped into my head. I've been on about plastic lately, and if the coast must crumble, at least this man-made artifact will one day return to the earth.

I have to agree with Jimdon'tforgetyourtetnusshotboB, though. You certainly created art with this artifact!

The composition is good. Not just the foreground, but the sky and skyline too. Good picture.

I love the textures of the rusty metal and the round hole in it makes me want to see more of the beautiful scene. Great composition and photo!

I agree with Susanne. The porthole makes for a lovely window to the future. The steps represent the past. PJ is correct about plastic. Reminds me of Old Rusty. (My truck) Excellent find and post Sir Nigel. Have a good week.

An impressive shot Nigel - the colours are brilliant and the textures of the sand and rusty metal are shown really well. Nice work :)

Ha ha! Well if Patti won't say it... "You should have straightened the horizon!" lol! I wouldn't have noticed if you didn't make me look for it though! :D I love the contrasting color combination here, they compliment each other very well and are very rich too. I also like the opposing shapes and angles that make this an artful sort of abstract image :)

hehe, my favourite beach for going to take shots of, always something falling to bits here now, but as a kid we used to spend our summers here, i am still drawn to this place even now. its a shame to see it all rotting away like this, and its happened so quickly in the grand scheme of things, once there were houses on the clifftops, but they all fell down as the cliffs eroded. its a neat shot, i like the rusty metal steps and i promise i didnt even notice the horizon till you mentioned it! lol

I love absolutely everything about this Nigel - the colours are gorgeous and the different textures of the rocks, rust and sand are wonderful and your comp and perspective give a slight dramatic edge. I quite like looking through through the peep-hole too:)

I love photos like this. Character is the key word! The combinations of the textures and the feel of the colours, wow.
It's an amazing bit of photo shooting on your part. Very very lovely! And I especially love how we can get a little glimpse of things thru that little hole....nicely done for sure. V
