Patti (Fogz) and Jan (JQ) on our recent trip to Derbyshire. This is a bit of an experiment with a high-contrast portrait, let me know what you think. Especially you two!!
I'm sure no expert on this Nigel. I think it is done very well. I for one like the lighting here along with the color and the details shows upp very well. I'm curious to know if you did something with your camera settings or are the results more from your editing. This is such a good one of these two fine ladies. Sandi =^..^= Sandi
Thanks Sandi - it's all in the edit. Create three duplicate layers in PS (including the background), desaturate the middle one (Ctrl+Shift+U) and change the blend mode of the top one to soft light or overlay. Then adjust the opacity to taste....
First of all i like the photo because the ladies in it look so happy :-) second, i do like the high contrast effect you did on this mostely because of the very natural colors and light. Very nice work!
Nigel, you've captured not only two lovely ladies, but megatons of photographic skills as well. A unique portrait.
Inherent to Owd Bob's comment above, think I will call them in the future 'The Caedes Angels', lol.
Regards, Cornelius.
I like the photo for the good composition and of course both subjects ;o)
Personal taste comment:
Here at work on my laptop monitor Patti and Jan look a bit ill since their skin looks anaemic, almost purple-ish.
On the other monitor it looks better in colours, less anaemic ;o)
Overall a really good one, for my taste i'd maybe do it a bit softer and warmer.

Nigel, my friend, obviously, if you take two lovely women and use them as models, it is impossible for you to muck up the resulting picture! You have a beautiful picture with the lovely subjects rendering a likewise beautiful capture. For me, an immediate fav!

I like it Sir Nigel. You make the editing sound so simple. I must learn to work with layers. I just haven't taken the time. This makes me want to learn.
Must admit that C's comments about the Caedes Angels is good. They appear that way but some of us might thing they are a bit feisty. lol
I like Jan's (Dimples) bracelet. It looks like a butterfly tatoo bracelet. If so, I like it.
Excellent shot and pp work, Nigel. Brings back happy memories of the Caedes UK get-together. I like very much your treatment of Patti and Jan. Nice work!!

The softer background really allows the girls to stand out. One thing that distracts... the hands seem to be a bit over contrasted or maybe just slightly overexposed. You certainly have extremely photographic subjects to work with. Thanks for sharing part of your shooting get together.
Great models Nigel showing some great equipment ( photographic, I wasn't using a euphemism). This is a very good portrait but I have to be honest and say that I don't really like the editing. I think it gives a strange unnatural, washed out look to the image which just doesn't sit right in my eyes. However, on the plus side - I might not like it but I think it's very clever and you did it very well.

The truth is, you really should see My Gallery.
this is a good portrait of us, i do quite like the treatment you gave it i have to say, we is lookin good!! it was a good weekend, and its nice to have some photos of us to remember. i will have to try your layers treatment too, its quite nice contrasty like that, and i also like how you softened the background too. good job fella :-)
Suppose I will get pasted for this Nigel, but while I really like the pose and relaxed attitude exuding from this image I have to say I agree with Chris that the colours are off to my eye also, and the washed out areas in the hands etc are a distraction for me. Guess I am not with the new tech stuff yet, tho I will be trying to learn it...:)
Lovely teeth and dimples. The first things I noticed. Then I looked to see what cameras you were toting about. lol Thanks for the tip, Nigel. Will have to give it a go since it worked out so well here.
Nice work, Sir Nigel. I love the effect on the background, but I think that in addition to the layers work, you might want to add a selection adjustment layer, perhaps, with a blush on their pretty faces. Other than that, it's certainly a keeper.

Really like the feel you achieved with this portrait. Even though they're posing, it doesn't seem they are...maybe because they're out doing what they love?
I like the high contrast too...but I find I like it because it washes away MY wrinkles...ha, ha.
Woah, what a comments!
Is there a limit to the number of comments on this site?
You must be a happy fellow, a girl at either hand and plenty of audience in the room!
But why did they bring their tripods? I sure hope the girl didn't hit you with them afterwards!
