Fantastically dramatic image Nigel, the perspective and composition are excellent and the winding path is perfectly placed to lead your eye to the subject. Well done.
Great composition. The cluster of buildings look brave and defiant against the looming storm. Looks like there would be plenty of riding opportunities there...perhaps that is where the Princess became so skilled in horseback riding?
It looks like there are some "well worn" paths leading to the school Sir Nigel. Or are they leading away? Just kidding. One path appears to be "straight and narrow," while the other meanders a bit more. I like the angle which makes it appear the school and clouds meet. You don't post much, but when you do it is a winner.
AVATAR BY PJ...............i've been visiting a friend who has a "sometimes connection". so sorry for the lack of comments.

Geez Nigel! I had to scroll for half an hour just to get past all the other comments! I almost feel like I should be bowing down in your presence! Ha! Lots of comments, and for damned good reason. Fantastic image Nigel. Bloody fantastic. Dripping with drama. My only question is, what are you doing creeping around outside girls-schools with your camera for? Hmmm? P.S. I know. I owe you mail. Sorry friend.
Nigel, "Roedean" could easily be the jacket cover for a Charlotte Brontë novel. I really like how all action shoots out from left center. It is just excellent.
Love your wonderful use of light in what looks like quite tricky conditions. the school buildings look as if they are being specially illuminated. The sky is magnificent and the perspective is very good indeed.
It always surprised me when you suddenly come across this well-known institution whilst driving between Newhaven and Brighton.
beautiful color and great perspective. Well done. Canon 5D?
I could make a smart remark here in my comments but I will restrain myself. (leave it to Nigel to sneak up on a girls school to take pictures of the landscape-un huh!)
Just saw this one in the VB, looks like it's a very well liked photo! I couldn't agree more, it's beautiful. The way you positioned the shot with the school off to the side is perfect. The sky is beautiful, the hill in inviting. Very well done!
What a beautifully put together photo Nigel! I think what catches my eye first of all is the way the little pathway winds to the buildings. Somehow that just makes it flow so well. And the colour of the grasses compared to the sky, is just fantastic. That sky being so dramatic take the eye totally into it. It almost looks, too, like the buildings were sort of on a hilly area...or that you were laying in the grass!! :) I can see you totally put this scene together. And for sure you did a magnificent thing with the whole thing. It would have been way different had you put the buildings in the middle, the way it is now, is just perfect all the way around. Bravo my friend, bravo!! Verena
WOW Nigel this one awesome shot. That school looks kinda scary with that sky behind it like that, and so desolate. Is that so the girls cant escape? :) I love the light in this one, have to say its gone right into my faves x
Faved and welcome back.
