Photo taken August 10, 2004, of the Sawtooth Mountain range near Stanley, Idaho. Like its neighbor, Montana, this is big sky country, too. Permission granted to use this photo for personal PC desktop wallpaper.

Very nice landscape, just a little grainy in the sky. Beautiful!

Beautiful countryside scene. I love the old fence on the left gives it perspective and age. Clouds make it feel more, down to earth so the sky's not so empty. So many days I'm guessing at least 250 out of the year here in Arizona we have nearly 90% cloud free days, which I can't complain about, sure beats the rain, but the clouds add character to this. Great job :)

Stanley is one of my favorite places in the country! I just submitted a picture I took at Stanley Lake back in July... Any friend of Stanley is a friend of mine!

The proportions of the land and sky are perfect. I love that fence too. It's what makes the photo something extra for me. It's funny how such small components of a composition can enhance the whole in such a way. I agree with Pierre that it's a bit grainy in the sky but I don't mind much. My digital has just the same problem (I suspect most have). Did you do the gradient thing on the sky here too?

This one is awesome! I used to live in YNP for a few years. It reminds me of then. Alas, most of our pictures from when we were there are gone(computer crash) but if I find any of them, I'll be sure to upload them.

Ok, I know your game. Your a sky specialist and you throw in a little bit of landscape for effect and perspective...and...entrapment, and... I bite every time. Another great shot that I can jsut "walk into" and never be seen again. Durn you!

Stanley is a magical place---I can just picture where this shot was taken. I lived in Stanley for 3 years through the long, below zero winters and glorious summers. Nothing like soaking in a natural hot spring while a light snow is falling on your head, gazing out at these breathtaking mountains. Ahhhh, heaven. Thanks for sharing your photo-makes my heart sigh to be there again.

Stunning...did you use any filters of any kind? Seems like this would beg for a UV or a polarized filter to get some different effects.

But anyway, I like :)

I don't have a fancy camera, or filters, unfortunately. I took this photo with a 2 megapixel Kodak Easyshare digital camera. As for a professional model camera, I guess that will be a goal when I get all my kids through college. I used Photoshop to bring out the sky - specifically, the levels dialog. Thanks for the nice compliment, Glen.
