I'm still playing in Photoshop, learning some new techniques. On this one, I wanted to achieve a satinlike texture. I used photoshop's gradient tools and Liquify filter to do this. I have also used fractals as overlays. There's a lot of transparency things happening in this one - but you'll need to view it full size to really see them. Let me know what you think? But words are things, and a small drop of ink, falling, like dew, upon a thought produces that which makes thousands, perhaps millions think and smile. Art is everywhere, except it has to pass through a creative mind.

I've been teaching some photoshop workshops here at the university. These were spinoffs from discussions I had there. So pleased you enjoyed them. Have a great day.

I think you well achieved the effect you were going for. The highlights really add to the depth. The enamel framework ain't bad either!

There were some fractal programs that I used on this as well.

Excellent. What I like most is that the gem is actually translucent on this one. I can see the satin through it, yet the gem retains its dome shape and surface patterns. I just noticed also the a gradient overlay continues from the satin out into the framing. Very cool, I wish I was in your class! You're not in Nashville are you?
