I asked Randy if I could do a collaboration piece with him using one of his excellent Apophysis flames. He was very kind to allow me to tinker with "Apophysis Plumage." Anyway, here's a very alien and strange result. What do you think???? Note: Phil had a very good critique. I've tried to soften the jaggies a little in this LINK but didn't want to erase all your kind comments by actually deleting and replacing the image on Caedes. Thanks for the feedback.

I think between the two of you - you have managed to pull off a very striking piece and the mix of styles certainly lifts the flames above the norm. my only comment would be the black keylines around the inside borders of the jewels seam very harsh and almost pixelated in comparisson to the softness of the rest of the design. other than that a lovely piece indeed.

Hi Nathan and Randy, this image is so beautiful and is beyond my comprehension to critique well, as I have said sadly, so many times before, I don't engage in this type of unique and marvelous artistry! Therefore, I am unable to describe this image in terms you guys would like to read! However, I find great fascintation in Nathan's work, so I find it irrisistibly difficult to not make my usual inquiry when he posts! Let me put it another way, I love this image, with it's grand colors of bronzes, rusty reds, variegated purples and golds! Simply magnificent in design and full of pleasure to view! Sincerely, Marilyn

As cgImagery would say "Holy (bad word)!" This is truly gorgeous. I can see what Phil and cgImagery mean, but it still looks great to me. This is quite striking and very beautiful. The rich colors and wonderful jewel work work incredibly well together. You may need to collaborate again sometime. Highest marks.

I checked out the revision and it does look improved...only gilding the lily, in my opinion.

AT first glance this looks like a carving done in the finest bronze metal...and copper as well. the colours are absolutely magnetic...the rich tones are enough to make a person wish they had a bit of gold intheir hands ! hehe And I think of it as a jewel piece again and can almost see it laying on top of purple velvet cloth. It makes one feel breathless with such beauty. I know nothing of "flames and fractals etc" but I do know colours and these are some of the most awe inspiring rich colours I've ever seen on a piece of art. I only wish I could copy them on my artists canvas. But I enjoy this piece of creation you have both made, its just magnificient!..verena
