As you probably know, blue is my favorite color. This was an interesting Photoshop experiment. The gold work was done with the pen tool. The original is across the top. Then I took that and did a filter-distort-polar coordinates to bend the filigree work into the central shape. The fractal behind is a manipulated chaoscope fractal. The jewels were painted using photoshop (but I had to look at photos of the real things to do it) - just hard old grunt work, so the jewels aren't much out of my own head other than the coloring. Hope you enjoy the piece.

Outstanding work Nathan! The gold work is superbly done and I like the slight purple and blue hues in the background. Great edges on the jewel too!
Excellent job!

Hi Nathan, another exquisite piece from our modern day 'Classic', our literary! I am sure he will be known historically for his contribution to the science of 'ART', as he actually does research and experiment with the designing, color, all things that comprise the composing of fractals and other related artistry! He never misses the mark! All his work is excellent! And I am not teasing, oh well, maybe in part! Beyond beautiful Nathan, very lovely! Sincerely, Marilyn

If your telling me that this is not a photo of a real gem and that you created it, you deserve an academy award. This thing looks REAL. You should consider going into the jewery business. You could get rich instead of lurking about on this web site.

I think I've almost figured out a way to do these in two Photoshop layers that will greatly simplify the task and still look real. If I get it working right, I'll post a tutorial on it.

Beautiful. Just went in my Favorites folder. You do a good job at these. I think I have several others of yours similar to this downloaded. All the gems you do seem to have an inner fire that draws a person to them. Gorgeous. Keep up the good work.
You should do some fantasy pictures. Do like an awesome medallion with a gem in it that is reflecting a fantasy scene going on, like a knight fighting a dragon, or a knight and princes embracing! That would be unbelievably Cool!
And if you do something like that, let me know on my profile or in a message! That would be so awesome. I would probably pay money for a picture like that!

Hi Nathan...I havent been here at Abstracts in a while, and seeing your beautiful creation again was sooo good for me! Blooooooooooo is my colour too! (aka verenabloo) but I do so love the filigree in this design...wish I knew how to do even a tiny bit of this...you have such a wonderful talent with these works of art my friend! I know you realize that, but your creations make me smile and get all "mushy" inside..thank you for brightening my day. They've been very grey lately due to a family crisis w're going thru. So I thank you so much once more...Verena

There are few situations in life that cannot be honourably settled, and without any loss of time, either by suicide, a bag of gold, or by thrusting a despised antagonist over the edge of a precipice on a dark night. -- Kai Lung
