I always love how I see the solid color background and a beautiful flower, I have been try to find out how to do it on my own, this is my first that I think is good enough to put on Caedes. I erased all of the photo except what you see (the flowers and a few leaves) then I used paint bucket to fill in the background with black. I still had some places that I needed to paint in with black so I took care of that. All in all I like what I see. Please tell me what you think. I used Pixelmator for my apple computer.

Good work Laura. The only way I can get a black background is to shoot at night or at a Mafia gathering. You did great. Love it.

Laura about the background I am not so sure.. but your flower is more than beautiful. I think there is a more quik way to get beautiful backgrounds like this, but I hope someone can tell you who really knows! Good luck my friend! Mich

Lovely shot and I have just one tiny suggestion... if you take your blur tool and take down the percentage on it to about 10%, and then pass it once along the edges where you previously cut, it will take the ultra sharp lines off. Hope this helps... and I just loved the water drops on your flower petals!

You did wonderful, Laura! Nice clarity and composition. I love the water drops, and the blooms show up beautifully against the black background.

I know a number of tutorials, tools and plug-ins that can make extracting a subject from it's background, an easier task. However, I don't see that there are too many available for the program you are using, and I'm not using a Mac.

Perhaps some of these tutorials will be of interest to you. There are a couple near the bottom on 'making selections'. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

you captured the beauty of the flower nicely. i agree also that a flower on a solid background captures the simplicity of its beauty. thank you for sharing the and taking the time to learn the art of cut outs.
