Once upon a time a decade ago, we had a weekly black and white competition. I sure would like to see some of the old Caedes spirit return.

The devastation from last winter's flooding is everywhere in San Luis Obispo County. Roads are still washed out, trees have tumbled and landslides are the norm. As we were driving San Simeon Creek Rd, Annie suggested I take a few photos of this huge root ball hanging next to the road.

Roger, in the past we had a by LynEve initiated 'B&W challenge'.

It was very successful, but like the Caedes site in a whole, the interest slowly decreased.

When I look at the very limited number of active Caedes-members now, I fear that your initiative will stay as a matter of wishful thinking. I hope that I'm wrong because 'producing' good photographic B&W material is an art in its own that couldn't be underestimated, and will enhance the quality of the contents of this site as well.

Your excellent capture is a proof of that!
