Ulysses (female) - Papilio Ulysses Joesa - This photo probably won’t get voted very highly, but I thought it was an apt contrast between the other images in this gallery, showing what our prized-photographed-butterfly's might look as they approach their time. Somewhat ironically this species of butterfly live for a mere two weeks. DMC-FZ20, F/2.8, 1/60 sec, ISO-80.

What an unusual shot, Cameron. I don't think I've ever seen a butterfly's wings captured at 'half-mast'. How sad that this beautiful creature lives only for a fortnight.

An excellent capture - colour and clarity are both outstanding. Really nice work!!

Wow, great title for this poor guy! Great clarity and compostion in this shot as well as coloring. I think this deserves high marks, but you are probably right. Diane

What a different shot. It really puts the life cycle in perspective. Thousands of perfect shots and one that shows his wear and tear. Very thought provoking.

It's too bad that this type of butterfly lives for such a short period of time. I really like the shot. Keep on posting.

Wonderful shot. I would like to see if you could have changed the angle slightly and reduced the reflection off the wings.

It's sad, but thats the cycle of life. Anyway I think this a beautifull shot! Great title too. Very well done.
Thanks for sharing.
