In the late summer, while scouting out places to look for foliage, the road lead to Montpelier and some pretty lovely sights. This was built in 1857 out of Vermont granite. On top of the gold-leaf dome stands a marble statue of Ceres, Goddess of Agriculture. Back then I suppose she was much in demand.

I suppose that this state capitol is nearest than your state one, however it's a great picture and this building is so impressive by what it represents. Ceres is goddess of agriculture because this state is very rural you said to me, isn't it ? A great image color. Well done.

Wow, you've got BLUE skies there! I always loved those golden domes. You know something important is supposed to be going on under them. lol You composed this very well and allowed us to see the whole building. I went through Montpelier once. Agriculture was ver much the thing in NE for awhile. UMASS started out as an agricultural school called MASS AGI. I guess the goddess reminded me.

The gold against the deep blue of the sky is fantastic as is the reflection of The Sun on the gold leaf. It's a bit too easy for we British to think we have a monopoly on great buildings. Obviously, we don't.

How You avoided so many people amazes me !! The dome appears very similar to Sir Christopher Wrens "St Paul's Cathedral" Apparently all cathedrals had gold leaf, and colourful painting too long before the industrial revolution.
