insignificant as in despite all our great achievements one of these babies can wipe out whole cities in a stroke and change the climate globally in a matter of minutes. I think you over estimate our importance in the big scheme of things but lets not get into that right now.

In summer of 2001, I got to enjoy a view from the sea of this baby steaming as we were about to transit north through the Straight of Messina from aboard my ship. She was just as awesome to see at sea level as she is from space. Truly remarkable. Wished I had my camera on me then.

You could also say that a virus is insignificant because it is so small. But we know this isn't true. Humans multiply exponentially and will soon colonize other planets and then other solar systems and eventually occupy large regions of space consuming resources and spreading like a virus. Nice pic.
