Space Shuttle Discovery sets off the Fourth of July fireworks with its own fiery display as it rockets into the blue sky, spewing foam and smoke over the ground, on mission STS-121.

Wow - hot off the press! Great shot of the lift off! God bless Discovery and all on board her. I pray for their safe return. This photo is bound to be a desktop favorite for many. Shame we all couldn't be there to see her go!
Even in still form, the launch instills a sense of awe and excitement. A super shot... one that will make a great addition to anyones desktop wallpaper collection.

Oh my Phil I now have the lift-off on my desktop....thanks to you! I listened to the launch on the radio since I was in the car and I discovered that I was holding my breath!!! I used to take these launches and re-entries as ho-hum, but not anymore!
You did another wonderful job of giving us this beauty and cleaning it up and resizing it so all of us can enjoy it. I hope that the astronauts on board the Discovery are having a blast of their own and enjoying the ride and that everything works out for them for a smooth re-entry. Once again, thank you my friend ;~)
Another good post. I will keep this one also. That has got to be a wild ride, especially at lift off. I would like to experience it just once. Another good choice of lift off captures.

This is by far the best photo I have come across yet. Flawless job; You took the photo at an excellent point in the shuttle's launch. The glow across the water and onto the land adds even more to an already amazing photo. I watched the launch live on television, but it obviously wouldn't come close to seeing the launch in person. I'm suprised you were able to get so close to the launch site, was that a private or public viewing area?
I watched the launch live on the 4th. It was the best fireworks show ever! I was glad that the Discovery made the launch sucessfully. I unfortunately had the displeasure of seeing the other shuttles destroyed on live TV :( Now lets see her get home safely :)
