Ok – so I’ll stop making apologies for/slagging off the compact camera – it’s not really crappy – in fact its shockproof, waterproof, crush and scratch proof so ideal for larking about on the beach with – but it’s also very limited (F5.1) is the maximum aperture and good at holding detail it is not.
Still as I said – a pretty tough cookie. I dropped it in the ocean tonight by accident and instead of freaking out as I would with any other camera – I just picked it out, rinsed it off and everything was peachy again. Can’t say fairer than that.
ROTFL, you seem to be really tough on cameras Phil! I am the same way with cell phones...haven't found a water proof one yet, but hoping someone will invent one soon (replacing them is expensive), lol!
As for your shot, I do think the color and light came out very well. Overall, I think it is lovely!

Radiant indeed my friend. Sounds like you have the perfect camera for your place of residence!! I really like the glow of the sun below the radiance above the clouds! The sand looks like it is quite soft ( my favorites kind btw :)The water appears perfect for dipping.....not your camera either!!!
Is this where you do a lot of hanging out in the evening/weekends?
What a doggoned tough life it must be :o) although quite easy on the eyes!! ....please keep the images coming Phil. I doubt that I will ever tire of viewing the beauty that surrounds you.
This is a place that I would never have been able to see through the eyes of someone else (let alone even know that it existed without your postings!)
Many, many thanks for sharing this with me :=)
First I have to say that this is one of the most beautiful sunset captures I have ever seen. The mix of cool & warm colors makes this image pop. The sunrays is amazing.
Second ... as my photography instructor once told the class ... it doesn't matter what type of camera you have. The camera only takes the image ... you, the photographer, makes the image. Whatever post work you did Phil ... you did a magnificent job. The composition is spot on & the balance in colors is perfect. Straight to my faves it goes.
So a very well done & thank you for sharing your talents.
btw ... looks fantastic on my DT. I also take a waterproof camera near or when I'm on water ... a few times I'm glad I did.
This is just beautiful. I love sunset/sunrise shots, and this one is spectacular. It's on my Desktop right now and immediately into my faves! Love the colors in the sky and how the light hits the shore just above the water. Wonderful work!
Oh, button up and quit making apologies. This is a great photo. The colors are fantastic. It's a keeper in my book. I don't keep images unless I think they are worth keeping. Excellent work.

Heyyyy!! You can take vids with your camera as well!! Niiiiiice.
:oP
Lol. Just chittin' a bit here.
Nice shot Phil. :o)
And stop bragging about your place of residence and forcing images such as these onto us ... or, as part of "The Great Conspiracy" ... I'll tank this baby in the booth. >:oD
... ...
/\ And yes, I am kidding. /\
With all of my above nonsense aside ... interesting composition. Given that when viewing an image full-size (for me and my browser anyways), a bit gets cut off at the bottom ... and as a result, I think I prefer a little less foreground. Truth be known.
It is still a great photo. And looks wonderful on the DT.
And but of course, thank you for sharing this view with us. :o)
NEVER start off by apologizing, it makes people think badly too.
ALWAYS say the good of your wonderful photo view. There is NO such a thing as a bad sunset, no way....every one of them is beautiful....that's our gift, to be able to get those colours
in an evening sky, what a grand thing to sleep with. Verena

"just a few minutes from my house" LUCKY YOU! i think your sunset is very nice. good " peachy" tones. i'd be very happy with it. what kind of camera do you have. is it an olympus? i did hear they could be dropped in water.
sorry if i don't comment on each of your pictures. to those of you who comment so often, i can't imagine how you get it done! i for one am always extremely grateful for the kind comments and suggestions that you make.

Ok, I'm a sucker for sunsets and sunrises, but this is really spectacular. Love the dynamic range of this shot. Dark shadows of the clouds sliced by brillant rays of the sun. Damn near poetic. +faves
Please, even if you don't visit my gallery, check out my "Faves".I've left them intact since day "1", and would like it if every image there got the attention they deserved.
Still as I said – a pretty tough cookie. I dropped it in the ocean tonight by accident and instead of freaking out as I would with any other camera – I just picked it out, rinsed it off and everything was peachy again. Can’t say fairer than that.
