On Thursday, May 14, Arianespace’s second mission of the year successfully launched two scientific satellites for the European Space Agency: the Herschel space telescope and the Planck scientific observatory. On it’s 30th straight successful launch, the massively powerful Ariane 5 ECA placed the two observatories into a transfer orbit where they will move to 1.5 million kilometres away from the Earth.
