This image was made last winter in the Palouse area of Washington State. The building is an old abandoned school that is now being used to store farm equipment. It was a real stark day so I softened the image with the old breath on the lens trick.

interesting, I love the softness your trick causes but it also causes the snow to look a bit "dirty"

Well done!

Where exactly was this shot? I went to school at WSU, so I'm now very curious. :)

I love seeing the furrows of the fields and I can almost hear the crunch of tires on the snow. Not looking forwaard to it, but it is beautiful.

A beautiful image and certainly well titled 'cause it sure does look mighty cold...love the snow, just don't care for the cold and it will soon be here. : Pat.

Wow, Michael, I had missed this one originally and it's such a wonderful shot! You captured that "starkness" beautifully. I only wonder if you had any difficulty getting your vehicle out of these hills after taking the photo! Doesn't look like there'd be anyone around to help if you ran into trouble.
