This Blue Heron was photographed next to its' nest, this spring. The Rookery is located on the banks of the Columbia River in an area known locally as The Reach. It flows through Hanford Atomic Sight and is the last free flowing section of the Columbia River above Bonneville Dam to the Canadian border.----- It looks like he's wearing a feathered crown as an old Chinese Emperor.

Lovely. Egrets are marvelously beautiful birds, aren't they?

Quite majestic. Lovely detail. I like the simple dark background, the minimal capture of branches, and the off-center composition.

Wonderful. The two year old runs to the computer screen pointing, he likes it, lol.
Well done Michael.

Unusual lighting for a bird shot (sun low in the sky?) but it really brings out the detail in the face and neck and saturates the colors. Works very well.

Never seen an egret before, so awesome job in showing me my first. I love how you can see all the details in the bird.
