Fall is here in the great expanse of Yellowstone National Park and this bull elk is in full rut. They can be quite dangerous at this time of year so it is best to keep a safe distance. Two minutes after this image was taken his harem joined him and they crossed the river.

My my! He's a toughy eh? I love the colour of the water and grasses. I have seen Bull Elk like this there also, in fact one almost "posed" for me..he looked straight in my eyes...and let me see his face and horns..very royal indeed, you could tell he was "kind"...This photo of yours is fantatic...as per usual my friend!!
